2010-2015 S1000RR Intake Air Temp Relocation Testing
2010-2015 S1000RR Intake Air Temp Relocation Testing 30.10.2016

The biggest complaint that we have received has been in regards to heat soak on these bikes. Customers would say that when the bike was cold, it was very fast, but as temperatures rise, power gets pulled out. This is obviously a safety feature of the OEM ECU, but from our testing, is overly sensitive.

As you all know, we have been working diligently on creating the most powerful and best packages available for the 2015 S1000RR. We have customers from all over the globe and many experience much higher temperatures than we see here in Massachusetts. The biggest complaint that we have received has been in regards to heat soak on these bikes. Customers would say that when the bike was cold, it was very fast, but as temperatures rise, power gets pulled out. This is obviously a safety feature of the OEM ECU, but from our testing, is overly sensitive.

Basically what happens, and is explained in the PDF below, is that when the bike gets to temperature and idles, it heat soaks the intake air temp (IAT) sensor which is located directly above the engine. This can happen in the pit, at a traffic light or even at low speeds. Heat rises, warms up the IAT to unreasonable temperatures and then pulls power out of the bike. We have seen variance of 10WHP+ over a few runs on the dyno simply due to high IAT’s.

The solution to this issue is relocating the IAT sensor from the airbox on top of the engine where it is prone to heat soak, to the nose of the bike where it will always read as close to ambient as possible. What this does, is it allows the bike to have accurate reading of the air temperature that is actually going into the bike. Well isn’t that built in fail safe you ask? You are right, but the time it takes for the sensor to cool down after heat soaking is unreasonable. It will often take miles for the temperature to cool enough that the sensor will read accurately and give you your power back, all the while, the air that is actually being sent into the bike is ambient and much lower than what the sensor is reading. For those of you who are waiting in the pits, cruising low speeds to do some friendly pulls or are often in stop and go traffic, this modification is a no-brainer.

Ordering:

We have already created the harness and plugs so this will be an easy plug and play affair for customers. There are quite a few bikes out there now that are running our relocation kit with great results. This install can be tackled by even the most novice mechanic with no splicing required and a small amount of panel removal needed for mounting. There is no tuning that needs to be done, any bike will benefit from this. The kit itself will be available for ordering shortly once we can build enough harnesses to supply customers.

Check back for pricing. We should be ready to ship these late next week or the week after!

  • “ This product is amazing.  I feel like I have a better version of my bike.  Like it should have come this way.  The throttle smoothness and even power band make it a joy to ride.  I no longer feel as if I'm riding a wild bronco lol. Thank you again, I didn't think that a L-twin could behave this well.  Also, your customer service is the best.  I could always reach you by email or phone.  I will tell everyone I know about this fantastic addition.  Keep up the great work, guys! ”

  • “ After doing some research it was obvious that Brentuning was the best option for tuning of my S1000RR. I wont go into details but after multiple overnighting of parts to me at no additional charge, I'm really impressed and satisfied with the end result and I haven't even tried out my race fuel tune yet! To top if off I received a random care package of goodies from Chris today. The customer service at Brentuning is probably the best I've received from any business I've dealt with. Their email response times are unreal as well, lol. Literally sometimes instantly, kinda weird. lol. I would recommend any and everyone to Brentuning for your S1000RR tuning solution. If anyone has any questions or are hesitant before purchasing, feel free to shoot me a message and I'll help / assist / give you a more detailed opinion on my experience as well. ”

  • “ I have the Bren Tuning ECU flash on my 2015 BMW S1000RR and it is unbelievable how fast this bike is. This tune is the best thing I got for my bikes. I have also did the Bren Tune for my 2014 BMW S1000r for which it just made this bike really nice. Bren Tuning is the best. ”
