KTM SuperDuke 1290 ECU Tuning is NOW AVAILABLE!
Finally a tried and true, ECU reflashing solution for your KTM SuperDuke 1290! NOW AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE HERE
Sick of piggyback fuel modules that only do one thing? So were our customers! The KTM SuperDuke 1290 is an incredibly well rounded motorcycle, winning praises from motorcycle magazines across the world for years. While the standard 180HP and stump pulling torque is more than enough for many customers, modifications in the aftermarket world are also available for those looking to customize their bikes to take it even further. One of the biggest obstacles however was the lack of software support from tuners — we set out to change that. Our popular Powergate 3+ handheld tuner is where we started. We have been using this in BMW, Ducati and Aprilia for years. This allows for easy programming from anywhere in the world with ease.
We then started from scratch on a custom calibration which loads directly to the factory ECU. No piggyback modules are needed or required, you only need a windows based computer (laptop not required). Upon our initial read of the factory ECU, we found dozens of ignition tables which took a ton of time to peck away at. We then got a base fueling model completed along with a full AlphaN conversion to simplify the fueling strategy. What this does is provide incredibly smooth power both on and off throttle along with drastically sharpening the throttle response and improving mid range power. As many new bikes, the KTM is also throttle restricted from the factory, we were able to remove that limiter completely to allow for a true 100% throttle opening when you request it. Mapping is available for 91, 93 and 100+ Octane race fuel.
All graph data posted is from a 2017 KTM SuperDuke 1290. The motorcycle was fitted with the following modifications:
- Austin Racing Full System
- Rottweiler intake system w/ 80mm velocity stacks
- 80mm velocity stacks
- BST Wheels
- PC5 W/ Rottweiler provided map (removed PC5 once we flashed the ECU)
To provide the most accurate data, we took the motorcycle and put it on the dyno as the bike came in with the modifications noted above. We then removed the PC5 and ran the stock fueling setup, the results are found below. The Rottweiler PC5 map actually performed worse than the stock ECU with no fueling modification at all. In some places the Rottweiler PC5 map was as rich as 11.0! The OEM ECU AFR was found to be safe for a stock motorcycle with room for improvement.
We then removed the PC5 and reinstalled the O2 sensors, we took our time on the ECU calibration and came to final numbers that were 10WHP/8WTQ over the PC5 Rottweiler map and 8WHP/6WTQ over the stock ECU map. Remember, mods are 100% exactly the same except for removal of the PC5 and addition of our ECU flash.
After finalizing the tuning and at the request of the customer, we tested out different velocity stacks that the customer provided. All of our data provided was utilizing the 80mm provided velocity stacks. We swapped the stacks out to the 40mm provided ones and the graph below is what we found. As you can see, the top-end gained around 4WHP from the 40mm stacks, that’s great and all but the problem is that the entire mid-range suffers dramatically from it. We saw around 5WHP and 8WTQ losses throughout much of the mid-range in the motorcycle with the 40mm stacks installed with the only benefit being from 10,000RPM and up. After finding this, we decided the small top-end increase was not worth the sacrifice of useable mid-range power.

Hi,
I have a bit different mods in my SuperDuke 1290 ’17.
De cat pipe Akra slipon (+Db killer) Rotty 80/40mm.
PC5 + Ignition Module. Std wheels.
So is it possible to make your own mods to ecu with Powergate 3+?
Or is it only fixed sw from You?
Do you have ”better” dyno diagrams available just to compare mine.

I have a 2018 KTM 1290 Super Adventure R.
Can you help me with this bike?
Do you sell a product that will help me get around the factory 125mph max limiter for track racing?
If I knew what I know now I would have went a different direction.
Really don’t know how you can call a bike a BEAST when it has a 125mph limiter.
I’ve changed out the original tires for a pair of Pirelli Scorpion Trail ll with “V” ratings.
With the “V” ratings, the tires are good up to 149mph.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Michael Reichard
