One of our most popular products yet, the feedback has been tremendous for 5-6 years and has evolved into this final product. Used in street and motorsports environments in hundreds of countries throughout the world, this world famous product is a staple in the S1000RR community. After cumulating over 5 years of data, not only in house but internationally with our partners, we have the most refined yet brutal option to date. While the S1000RR will never be considered tame, when you compare it to a bike that we have flashed, you will be using that word.

Ignition Timing per every fuel, conversion to lambda, cat off changes, full throttle limiters, engine braking in all modes, cold and warm start, drivability issues (removal of known flat spots), speed and rev limit adjusted for max power, lambda limiters, throttle valve, adaptation to race fuels.

We spent a ton of time removing the midrange and bad sluggish throttle response, along with the jerking and bucking throughout the power range. The bike drives like a completely different animal after loading our mapping!

Modifications are made to:

Fueling – Air mass, idle, part/full throttle and Lambda correction maps.

Ignition – Base, limiter, optimum ignition, optimum angle, correction maps.

Throttle – Remove 80% WOT limiter, perfect throttle twist adjustment for all desired load angles for maximum response control and power under the curve, rev/speed limit.

Torque – Adjust torque model to align with new power of bike/limiter removal.

Quickshifter – Shorter up and downshift dead times for maximum drivability and acceleration. This is one of the most noticed upgrades over the factory mapping.

Bike Adaptation – Ignition/fuel calculation for maximum performance and response for upgraded fuel qualities.

Quantitative differences:

– Drastically improved throttle / engine response at all throttle angles with a great highway cruise range.

– Drastically decreased delay times in quickshifter response on both up and downshift.

– Removed bottom end dead spot in low RPM range.

– Increase in top end power via limiter removal. Especially noticeable between gears.

BMW S1000RR HP4 specific ECU/DDC mapping

There is a lot of controversy about the HP4 software and if it is beneficial to tune like other models/years. The answer is yes! We recently took in a near stock HP4 and tested it from scratch and we want to share the details of our HP4 file and our DDC + Race file and what they entail.

Below is a power baseline from a stock 2014 HP4 with a link pipe and filter vs. our 93 tune vs. our Torco octane booster race map. The main thing you will notice is that the low end gains are not as large as the normal S1000RR. The HP4 makes additional power not only because of its exhaust system, but also because it has a more aggressive desired load table, knock table (which allows for better use of the ignition tables) and throttle limiters vs. the older S1000RRs. The HP4 also has a target air fuel that is acceptable and pretty spot on from any tuners point of view. In most cases with linkpipe HP4s, an additional 8% fueling will result in more power and consistent power curves on our tunes. But for a bike without other tuned maps in place (ignition/limiters), the use of a fuel modifier (PC5, Bazazz etc) rarely results in any gain on an HP4. This is due to the factory target and air mass table putting the bike around 12:9:1-13:0:1 AFR under WOT medium to high load.

On this bike, with the 93 octane performance map, we saw an additional 12-15 whp and up to 20 whp on race fuel. This bike was running a pump fuel/Torco mix so we saw a little less gain than full on race gas, but the Torco indeed does work!

Changes vs Standard S1000RR

As far as HP4 ECU/DDC specific mapping that caters to this special bike, this is what we have access to and map ON TOP of our normal changes:

  • Recalibration of the air mass table at all loads for the specific HP4 factory exhaust, with and without link pipe for maximum driveability and power.
  • Recalibration of throttle tables for increased low and mid RPM.
  • HP Race ECU / BMW M HP4 knock calibration and control procedure.
  • HP Race ECU / BMW M HP4 Optimum angle of combustion.
  • Individual HP4 Spec Relative cylinder filing 1-4.
  • HP Race ECU / BMW M HP4 ECU specific fuel and ignition learning adaptations (this translates into more consistent power on pump fuel).
  • 23 different Launch control modifications – including removal of torque limiting aggressive start, cool down removal, traction and wheelie nanny modification.
  • Removal of engine torque limitation from 82-100% throttle for bikes with head/cam/nitrous or our V3 race fuel over 225HP.
  • 18 DDC suspension map settings adjusted in race and slick, to remove the pogo stick / soft setting to BMW M PP race specs.
  • HP4 specific engine braking restriction removal per their unique ECU desired load.

The suspension and LC changes provide a completely different riding experience. Along with an increase in power and restriction removal, this really makes this modification a slam dunk on a bike that is already setup extremely well from the factory.

WHAT IS A HANDHELD TUNER AND WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF HAVING ONE?

We start with our popular OBDII Flasher+ and fully customize it.  Thoroughly tested by our own engineers, not just for its function but also durability.  We purposefully dropped this thing about 100 times just to make sure if you accidentally dropped it, it would still be a usable device.

So why buy it when you can just send in your ECU for flashing and spend less? Let’s see the breakdown.


NO DOWNTIME

No need to send in your ECU or remove it from your bike at all.  You order the handheld, it get’s delivered to you, you flash your bike.  You never miss a day of riding and no effort removing the ECU.

 

STORE MULTIPLE MAPS

When you send in your ECU, you only get one map.  You might be thinking, “why would I need more than one map?”.  Storing multiple maps means you’re able to flash for different fuels.  If you’re a serious track competitor, we can work with you to get you different mapping for different tracks.  If, for example, you’re add an exhaust to your stock bike, we can email you a file that takes the new exhaust into account with the changes you need to optimize your S1000RR’s new modifications.

 

GO BACK TO STOCK ANYTIME

Not only can you store multiple race maps, you can also flash the original, stock file back into the bike at any time and for any reason.

 

READ AND CLEAR ENGINE CODES

If for some reason you have a check engine light, you’re able to plug in our handheld tuner and read the codes from it.  Using the codes you’re able to determine the issue with the bike.  Sometimes these codes make the Check Engine Light come on.  Even after the issue is fixed the check engine light can stay on for a dealer to clear or stay on for a certain amount of key cycles.  The handheld can clear these codes.  As long as the issue is fixed, the handheld will eliminate the check engine light.
