WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF STAGE 2?

 

MORE POWER

Gain over 10% horsepower and torque with our Stage 2 Flash and significant gains over Stage 1.  Stage 2 is designed for 93 octane but will run just fine with 91. (See ignition advance below for explanation)

 

GOES BEYOND JUST REMOVING RESTRICTIONS

Stage 1 was derestricting the R nine T.  Stage 2 is optimized for best performance at all times without sacrificing reliability or rideability.  We left no stone unturned in our Stage 2 development and spent hours, days, and months to perfect Stage 2 with our R&D.  The throttle now has even more response than ever before.

 

FUELING

The air/fuel ratio has been carefully measured in testing with the other changes we’ve made optimizes your R nine T for peak performance and reliability.

 

IGNITION ADVANCE

The R nine T has multiple ignition maps (timing maps).  The point to this is to ensure your bike runs at peak performance and reliablity, even when bad fuel is present.  Bad fuel would be defined as a fuel that has lower than advertised octane, old fuel that’s been sitting in the bike that has now going bad, or a forgetful user that just pumped incorrect octane fuel at the gas station.  With our extensive R&D process we’ve been able to optimize each ignition map to not only add more power to your R nine T, but also make sure that if bad fuel is present, the motorcycle will still maintain it’s reliability.

 

LOWER FAN-ON TEMP

In an effort to cool the engine down more, we have lowered the temperature in which the radiator fans come on.  This keeps your bike cooler and more consistent with power.

 

TORQUE TABLES

Torque limit tables in dynamic mode have all been raised to give you maximum performance.

 

EGT TABLES

We changed the EGT (exhaust gas temperatures) tables for maximum performance. Expect large increases in low-end and mid-range throttle response through 100% direct throttle opening in dynamic mode.

 

ENGINE BRAKING

Engine braking has been optimized to be less intrusive and smoother than ever before. *PLEASE NOTE: We can adjust Engine Braking can be more or less aggressive upon request*

 

AFTERMARKET EXHAUST MAPPING

After testing, we have mapping available for aftermarket exhaust systems.  We support most brands and can make custom fueling for your R nine T (if needed).

 

EXHAUST VALVE

The exhaust valve on the stock system has been disabled for better sound and more power.  If you choose to use an aftermarket exhaust, we disable the engine code for the removed exhaust valve.

 

 


DYNO PROVEN STAGE 2 GAINS

The baseline is both RED lines, the BrenTuning Stage 2 Flash is represented by the BLUE lines.  You can see large gains over the entire RPM range and with the extended rev limiter, you’ll have less shifts at the track.

BMW 1200CC engine Flash features:

Flash in / flash out Mapping for all models.

50+ Map corrections to:

Ignition Timing per every fuel, conversion to lambda, cat off changes, full throttle limiters, engine braking in all modes, cold and warm start, driveability issues (removal of known flat spots), speed and rev limit adjusted for max power, lambda limiters, throttle valve, adaptation to race fuels.

We spent a ton of time removing the midrange and bad sluggish throttle response, along with the jerking and bucking throughout the power range.  The bike drives like a completely different monster after mapping!

 

Quantified differences:

-Over 10% power gain / Over 10% torque on pump fuel 

-Smoothing of the part throttle rideability and idle

-Diagnostic invisibility

-Work on bike at home with ability to reset check engine codes and adaptations.

-Ability to ride bike at lower or mid rpms with bucking and jerking found in factory tune.

-Aggressive ABS / DTC bike intervention for more experienced rider looking to shave seconds

-Stronger idle speed to combat stalling on warm up.

-Reshaped torque model for more power at all rpms part or full throttle

-4 mode tuning (If applicable)

THE BRENTUNING HANDHELD TUNER

 

 

WHAT IS A HANDHELD TUNER AND WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF HAVING ONE?

 

Thoroughly tested by our own engineers, not just for its function but also durability.  We purposefully dropped this thing about 100 times just to make sure if you accidentally dropped it, it would still be a usable device.

 

So why buy it when you can just send in your ECU for flashing and spend less?
Let’s see the breakdown.

 

NO DOWNTIME – No need to send in your ECU or remove it from your bike at all.  You order the handheld, it gets delivered to you, you flash your bike.  You never miss a day of riding and no effort removing the ECU.

STORE MULTIPLE MAPS – When you send in your ECU, you only get one map.  You might be thinking, “why would I need more than one map?”.  Storing multiple maps means you’re able to flash for different fuels.  If you’re a serious track competitor, we can work with you to get you different mapping for different tracks.  If, for example, you’re add an exhaust to your stock bike, we can email you a file that takes the new exhaust into account with the changes you need to optimize your S1000RR’s new modifications.

GO BACK TO STOCK ANYTIME – Not only can you store multiple race maps, you can also flash the original, stock file back into the bike at any time and for any reason.

READ AND CLEAR ENGINE FAULTS – If for some reason you have an engine light, you’re able to plug in our handheld tuner and read the codes from it.  Using the codes you’re able to determine the issue with the bike.  Sometimes these codes make the Engine Light come on.  Even after the issue is fixed the engine light can stay on for a dealer to clear or stay on for a certain amount of key cycles.  The handheld can clear these codes.  As long as the issue is fixed, the handheld will eliminate the engine light.

 


 

**** Our handheld tuning device requires the use of a windows based computer. The handheld and the computer never need to be next to each other and the software is non-invasive. This means a desktop or work computer should be just fine. The file download for the software is around 60MB which you will have to download from the internet. If you do not have access to a windows computer, the internet or are not proficient with a computer and downloading / uploading things from the internet, please consider our mail in ECU tuning service. ****

**** Two fuel options/maps are available with your purchase, we can do a low octane and high octane option, if you have additional requests they can be included at an additional $100/per map fee, this can cover additional fuel qualities or modification sets. ****

**** Please for best results, make sure your motorcycle has been updated at the dealer to newest software available before purchase. If the bike is under warranty, this will be a free update. If the bike is out of warranty they will charge (1) hour labor to do this. This will avoid any issues with future updates (for the most part) and avoid us having to remap the bike for new software. A $100 remap fee will be charged for new mapping after a dealer updates your ECU. Please always put the handheld back to stock before bringing to the dealer for any updates, to avoid unlocking charges on the handheld. ****
